Mark & Harriet

Quote used on the back of the order of service sheet.
Mark and Harriet first came to me when I was still living in Melbourne. Harriet knew exactly what she wanted for her save the date and wedding invite: a watercolour painting of the church they were going to get married in, and her childhood home, the venue for the reception. I had very limited resources whilst I was living in Australia but knew I just had to do the job!
I was sent an array of photos to work from and got straight to it, luckily I had packed my small set of watercolours and a good variety of pens and pencils. I was also lucky enough to find an amazing library (Library at the Dock - Melbourne) which had a space specifically for creatives and was kitted out with iMacs complete with all adobe suites! I had struck the jackpot!
I was able to complete the paintings, scan them in and send proofs to Mark and Harriet all from the other side of the world (technology eh!).

"I asked Lucy to do two paintings and some calligraphy for us to use on our wedding invites. They are absolutely beautiful! She really listened to what we were after and worked with us along the way to make sure we were happy."  - Harriet (Bride)

Once I was back on British soil Harriet came to me again and commissioned me to create their table names, a bespoke wedding sign and the quote to go on the back of the order of service. One of my favourite bits about weddings is seeing how couples put their own touches on the day. Mark and Harriet went for bands and artists for their table names which I loved hand lettering.

One of my favourite parts of being involved in a couple's wedding day is receiving the professional photographs of my work. It's one thing having the pieces in your own home whilst you work on them, but there is something magical about seeing them complete with the rest of the wedding set up. These hand-lettered table names were hung from hand-crafted metal work, creating a stunning table display.Photo by:  rsbrownphotography.com
